Hi, I’m Dr. Sue Massimo Overend, but you can call me "Dr. Sue."
I’m a former competitor in gymnastics, swimming, and water polo. I also have experience in acro-gymnastics, trampoline/mini-tramp, and diving. I was also a circus performer in college specializing in choreographed aerial acts.
I have over 20 year's experience as an Elite and J.O. levels gymnastics coach. I’m a co-author, with the late Dr. Joe "Doc" Massimo, of over 100 articles and several books. Our latest book, Gymnastics Psychology: The Ultimate Guide for Coaches, Gymnasts, and Parents is an Amazon best-seller.

The SuperStar Mental Games program is a year-round program. Monthly Game Plans are combined into 90-day topic areas like the "SuperStar Success Formula" and "SuperStar Confidence." Mental game topics are explored weekly with action exercises provided so your child can practice using their new mental game skills in training and at competitions..
All material for the mental game program will be delivered through an easy-to-use online learning platform. They will be able to watch videos, listen to audios, or read the documents containing the mental game training to best fit their learning style. Action exercises should be printed out, completed, and kept in a notebook for easy reference.
Your support and involvement will greatly improve your athlete’s learning and application of mental training skills, especially with younger children. You will receive bi-weekly mental game topic summaries of the skills that your child is learning. You'll also be provided with discussion questions to explore the mental game topics like mental challenges and confidence with your child.
All material for the parent's mental game guides will be delivered through an online learning platform. You will have a different login to access your parent-only material. You will have access to videos, audios, and text documents to support your best learning style. You may also print out the discussion questions to open up communication with your child athlete if you wish.
Yes, since all the mental game training is accessed online, you and your child can use your PC, phone or tablet to access the material from anywhere- at any time. Your athlete can even watch or listen to the lessons on your commute to and from practices and competitions.
Each mental game training is designed to only be about 10 minutes long. Some of the action exercises can be done in a few minutes while a few others will take longer and may need the help of their parents or coaches to complete.
Dr. Sue is here to assist your athlete along the way with all aspects of the training through our group chats and Q&A. She will provide many examples of the exercises to help your child fill them out and practice what they are learning. They may also seek the help of their parents and coaches.
Dr. Sue will be offering a 30-minute weekly group "check-in" based on submitted questions to see how each athlete is doing with their mental training. She will answer questions as well as celebrate their "wins" as they progress through the program.
Yes, SuperStar Mental Games is based on proven mental training skills and strategies that will be beneficial for any athlete. The examples and exercises, however, are primarily for athletes in Artistic and Acrobatic Gymnastics, Trampoline & Tumbling, along with sports like Springboard Diving.
Dr. Sue will be monitoring the parent chat portal in the platform so you will be able to make comments and ask your questions. You'll also have the other parents in there who may be able to help you with ideas or suggestions. For more private matters concerning your child, you'll be able to email Dr Sue.
